Update on incident at the Nadder Centre outdoor swimming pool
We wanted to update you because, as you may know, earlier today (11 September) there was a small fire related to the plant room that supports the outdoor pool at the Nadder Centre.
All the correct processes were followed when such an incident occurs and no one has been hurt. Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and have been supporting us throughout the day to ensure the site is safe. In addition, we are liaising with Scottish and Southern Electric, and they have also been on site to support and advise. At this stage it’s too early to say for certain what caused this incident, but we will gather all the facts to help inform any next steps.
The pool is closed, but the leisure centre itself remains fully open. People are being asked to access the centre via Morrison Avenue as Weavefield Road is currently closed. We thank everyone on site for their calmness and professionalism in dealing with this incident.
As and when we have more information, we will keep you updated.
